School Year Program

School Year Program Overview

The program is open Monday- Friday from 6:30 a.m. until school starts and from dismissal until 6 p.m. Kid’s Zone is open at all elementary sites following the school calendar. Kid’s Zone provides a safe, caring, and semi-structured environment where students have the opportunity to learn and develop lifelong skills.

Students learn through a wide variety of activities such as art, science, reading, games, social skills, gym time, outdoor play, and unstructured playtime. We encourage students in our program to explore their interests, develop friendships and grow confidence, independence, and respect for themselves and others. Safety, connection, and relationship building are the core of our work.

Kid’s Zone is closed on holidays observed by the Liberty Public School District. There are special days throughout the year that Kid’s Zone will also close for planning and staff training, and professional development.

Program Hours

Before School - 6:30am until school start time

After School - School dismissal until 6:00pm

Snacks

Students will be provided a snack every day during after-school care. All snacks are provided by our Nutrition Services Department and are in accordance with the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, the USDA, and our district's Wellness Policy. Early Release Information

A Scheduled Early Release occurs when school is dismissed early for teacher work days, staff development, or parent conferences, and Kid's Zone remains open for care at each individual site. All children enrolled in the Kid's Zone program may attend Scheduled Early Release days, as they are included in the monthly tuition (this does not include the weekly, one hour early release Wednesdays). This extends to our kids that are enrolled for morning care only.

A sign-up sheet will be available at the site prior to any Scheduled Early Release Days. It is important that both your site office AND the Kid's Zone staff know whether or not your child will attend on these days. Please see your Site Manager for deadlines. If your child is normally in Kid's Zone Before School Care only, it is the parents' responsibility to inform the school office of the alternate plan for their child to stay at Kid's Zone on early release.

Please make sure to have a set plan for Early Release days with the school office and with Kid's Zone, as this will help avoid confusion on those days.

Students in after school care can stay on early release Wednesdays with no sign-up required. Students in before school care can stay for the one hour of early release on Wednesdays.
